Apparently someone bought it and fixed it and then sold it for $6999.
Here’s what it looked like before:
Body damage was bad, but there was no structural damage AFAIK. It ran and drove like nothing was wrong. Tough little bugger.
The ad is gone, but the picture w as still available. The brief snip in the google search was from a Utah site. It’s possible that this is another car, but it did come up specifically on a search for my VIN. Interesting...

Wonder what it sold for at auction. Presumably if its structurally sound and you could source junkyard body panels in the right color, you could do an adequate repair and still have a decent profit.

They must have gotten it pretty cheap, I think. I don’t know how much the panels would cost, but I’d bet the most expensive single component would have been the driver airbag.
I was shocked when I drove it and it felt like nothing was wrong. I didn’t take it far, just pulled it into the parking lot near the intersection where the crash happened. But it tracked straight and all the doors opened fine.
The insurance company did tell me it was repairable, just that the cost was more than the car was worth. I’d bet most of that was labor.

Doesn’t surprise me. I’ve been watching a lot of SamCrac on youtube and have gained a lot of appreciation for people who fix salvage cars.

It almost looks like your suspension components made it out okay, is this so?

Yeah, that wouldn’t surprise me. I tagged the other guy’s right rear quarter as he made the left turn opposite me. Nothing was pushed into the tire and all of the bumper supports were even still intact. I was going about 40, too! I couldn't believe it. His Sonic was REKT, though.

Yeah, for whatever reason the estimate was enough to total it. I have to assume it was mostly labor because if someone could snag it, fix it, sell it for 7k and still be profitable it must have just been labor intensive.
